I have concentrated my studies in sociology on theory and methods with my chosen concentration area as theory, but having taken all the methods courses offered in sociology (or their equivalent in other departments). My primary research in sociology has been in exploring the intersections of HCI and social theory as described briefly on my research page.

However, I do have some blog posts I wrote while taking a course on classic sociological theory. On my classic theory blog, I wrote blog reactions to the readings from Durkheim, Marx, and Weber (having only started in the field in fall 2008, this was my first exposure to their ideas). Additionally, as one assignment in this class, I maintained a blog detailing my independent research on sociologist L.F. Ward.

During the summer of 2010, I will be working with William F. Woodman and Daniel Krier on a project to build a website that can be used by sociology faculty to help provide historical context of the lives of classic sociological theorists.
